Vega Kystferie – Between Bent Fishing Rods and Memorable Moments: A Customer Story from the Fankurs Nord.

“Sometimes there are places where you go on vacation. And then there are places you’ll remember for a long time to come.

For us, Vega Kystferie definitely falls into the second category.

From August 1 to August 10, 2026, we had the chance to experience a time here that we won’t forget anytime soon. Due to the weather, we were only really out on the water for four or five days—but we made the most of those days all the more. In no time at all, we caught an incredible amount of fish, including some truly impressive giant cod, and in the end we actually filled our 75-kg quota. These were days full of adrenaline, excitement, and unforgettable moments—and it was precisely this mix of nature, fishing, camaraderie, and the feeling of being in the right place at the right time that made this trip so special for us.”

So, what does this group actually take away from their vacation? Well, we were lucky enough to experience it firsthand:

“Vega didn’t just provide us with fish—it gave us stories we’ll be telling for a long time to come. We laughed, cursed, struggled, caught fish, helped each other out, and probably experienced more than we’d originally expected.

What remains isn’t just 75 kg of fillets in our luggage.

What remains are memories of long days, sunsets out in the middle of the sea, bent fishing rods, happy faces, and a damn good time!

Even in retrospect, “Fangkurs Nord” has portrayed their vacation in an incredible way. The focus isn’t just on the trip itself, but on the experience as a whole. From the planning stage right up to the moment they finally step onto the boat and can fully immerse themselves in their hobby. We at Dintur are delighted that our beautiful country and our destination provided this group with such an unforgettable experience. “For us, the vacation doesn’t just begin the moment we get out of the car on Vega. A large part of it starts months in advance: planning, thinking things through, gathering gear, mapping out the route, food, boats, fishing spots, alternatives in case of bad weather, and many little details you don’t even think about at first.

And perhaps that’s precisely a point that sometimes gets lost in all the discussion about catch limits.

Of course, we go to Norway to fish. We’re just as excited about catching good fish as any other angler. And I can also understand anyone who wants to catch that one very special big fish once in a lifetime.

But at some point, you also ask yourself: What really makes for a great fishing vacation?

Is it really the kilograms of fish in the cooler? Or is it ten days with friends and family, two boats on the water, the scenery, good food, evenings spent together, little adventures, new fishing techniques, and those moments you’ll still be talking about years later?

I’ve come to believe quite clearly: The total package is much more important.

Perhaps that’s why the new situation can even be an opportunity to refocus a bit more on the actual experience—moving away from “catching as much as possible and taking as much home as possible” and toward varied fishing and a truly great trip together.

We, too, certainly used to think differently about this. Catching a lot of fish automatically meant a particularly successful vacation. Today, I see things in a much more nuanced way. Catching a big fish is fantastic—but constantly chasing after the next, even bigger fish can’t be everything.

Norway, in particular, simply has so much more to offer.”
