Havnnes Handelssted

The mouth of Rotsund with its sandy and shellfish bottom is practically right outside the doorstep. The special thing here is that the area has a year-round herring population that attracts a lot of large predators (eg. cod and halibut). Always keep an eye on the sonar here because the schools of herring are usually in the middle water layer of the fjord. It is also worth mentioning that the area is one of the best wind-protected areas in the north.

Already at the outlet of Rotsund you will find plenty of good fishing spots. Here is a vast sandy plateau where halibut are regularly caught around the 50-meter mark. We also want to highlight Lyngenfjorden as a very exciting fishing area. Not only because of its well-known "Vaggasnase" (approx. 20 minutes - across the fjord). The Rakkenesskallen in the Lyngenfjord is also a well-known fishing spot

For passionate sea anglers, there are great opportunities for large tusk and redfish near Vaggasnasen and west of Jewasgrunnen. A little further away is the exterior area for the Lyngenfjord with the islands of Arnøya and Vannøya. Cod fishing in the area around the islands can simply be described as "the highlight of the region".
